First 15 minutes

Stay safe first.Do not walk through standing water near outlets, panels, or plugged-in devices. If there is immediate danger, call emergency services.
Stop the source if safe.Shut off the water supply, move away from active leaks, and avoid contaminated sewage or storm water.
Document the damage.Take photos and short video of the water source, flooring, walls, cabinets, baseboards, and affected rooms before moving items.
Move small valuables.Lift papers, electronics, rugs, and light furniture only when doing so is safe. Do not tear out wet material without guidance.
Request intake quickly.Share the city or ZIP, property type, whether water is still coming in, and whether electricity or sewage is involved.
